Asking the right questions so that patients and their care partners can provide more relevant details about their disease state, including new or bothersome symptoms, or side effects from therapies can improve patient outcomes and quality of life. Challenges such as limited office visit time, communication barriers, increasingly complex symptoms, polypharmacy, and patient discomfort may help explain why some patients may withhold actionable information from their providers. In this panel discussion faculty along with patients and care partners will discuss their experiences in effective communication and the impact on treatment. Upon completion of this course, HCPs will be able to more effectively prompt patients, ask for the right information, and create a safe space to share, along with alternative methods for patients to document and share data.
