This session will increase provider understanding of the genetic disposition and identify risk of Huntington's Disease by reviewing HTT gene codes & CAG repeats, along with providing patients and families education on this progressive hereditary disease. Low utilization of referrals to counseling and resources overburdens providers and lowers the chance patients and families get sufficient psychosocial support. Upon completion of this course, along with recognizing HTT gene coding and the meaning of CAG repeats, HCPs will be able to recognize when to refer a patient for genetic counseling and the impact of that decision-making.
